Security Features
Because no single security feature alone is absolutely foolproof, SCRIP-SAFE® provides a myriad of inter-linking security features that enable easy detection of documents that are not originals. These features enable users to detect fraudulent transcript paper!
ABILITY TO HIDE THE LATENT IMAGE
SCRIP-SAFE® offers a full range of custom and standard latent images that appear clearly only when photocopied, even on the lighter machine settings. SCRIP-SAFE® developed full-page latent image security features that protect the entire page and do NOT require camouflage to hide latent security warnings.
HIDDEN SECURITY WORDING
(Identi-DOC™)
SCRIP-SAFE® provides custom hidden institutional identifiers that distinguish official transcript paper from generic transcript papers currently available over the Internet. When photocopied, TWO unique hidden security features appear. The first is the NAME OF THE INSTITUTION, and the second is the repeated word "COPY COPY COPY." These hidden images are printed on alternate rows over the entire transcript page and protect it from undetected misuse. For example, when a transcript is photocopied, the hidden message will read:

If this message cannot be read when photocopied, the paper is not authentic. In this case, the user is instructed to reject the document as an original.
This hidden security feature provides an unmistakable fingerprint for your institution and is not offered by generic papers sold over the Internet.
VISIBLE INSTITUTIONAL IDENTIFICATION (CAN-SCAN™)
SCRIP-SAFE® prints a multi-density institutional seal in the center of the transcript. In addition, the name of the institution is produced in white and is repeated in rows across the face of the entire transcript. When the document is photocopied, these images distort or disappear indicating the document is a copy, not the original.
SECURED SIGNATURE AND SEAL (SignaSEAL®)
SCRIP-SAFE® offers a convenient and secure procedure for the placement of the official signature on academic records. The official seal is printed by SCRIP-SAFE® in two ink densities. Next, the authorizing signature is produced in white over the official seal. When photocopied, the official seal and the authorizing signature BOTH distort or disappear to alert the user that the academic record is not an original.
SECURED POSTAL ADDRESS BOX (POSTALBOXX®)
SCRIP-SAFE® offers a secured field that accommodates new postal scanning requirements and serves as an additional security feature. If the transcript is photocopied, the postal field virtually disappears leaving a noticeably colorless area. Printed instructions warn the user that the postal field "must display address and colored background." Note: This feature is recommended if the mailing address is printed on the transcript.
ANTI-COLOR COPIER SECURITY FIELD
SCRIP-SAFE® uses the "anti-color copier security field" in which the latent image is NOT masked or camouflaged. Importantly, the latent image is NOT visible to the eye when camouflage is not present. This field can be any specified size, including the entire page if necessary.
USE OF REGISTERED TRADEMARKS
SCRIP-SAFE® is a registered trademark and is protected against fraudulent misuse and misappropriation. If an academic transcript produced by SCRIP-SAFE® is used in a fraudulent manner, SCRIP-SAFE® is able to prosecute. Prosecution may go forward, even if institutional legal counsel indicates that it is unable or unwilling to protect the misuse of your transcript. Note: Most institutions prohibit the use of their marks/logos without restrictive licensing and royalty payment contracts.
FULL-BLEED BORDERS
SCRIP-SAFE® provides a wide selection of custom full-bleed borders (printed to the edge of the sheet). Within each of these borders warning text may be printed. Because photocopiers can’t scan the entire 8.5 x 11 inch transcript, the borders become distorted.
PAPER
SCRIP-SAFE® utilizes papers that are chemically and photo reactive. When touched by fresh liquid bleach, the paper will stain. Florescent fibers are present in the paper and react to UV light.
SECURITY LABELING AND BOXING
SCRIP-SAFE® packages 1,000 transcripts in chipboard inner boxes that carry a security warning label.
PROOFS AND DELIVERY
SCRIP-SAFE® delivers a proof within seven working days after final copy is received. Delivery is within three weeks after the proof is approved.
EMERGENCY STOCK
SCRIP-SAFE® customarily maintains a 500 sheet supply of your last order for emergency purposes. If the emergency stock is needed, the only charge is a $25.00 shipping and handling fee. In the event overnight delivery is requested, the shipping charges over normal UPS ground service would be additional. A purchase order is required for your next order to receive shipment of the emergency stock.
NO GENERIC SALES
SCRIP-SAFE® does not sell generic paper stock that could be misused. Our college and university customers have depended on us not to release to the general market any paper that could defeat the purpose of secured transcripts. All SCRIP-SAFE® paper sold to the non-academic market is custom printed for each customer and carries some type of unique identifying mark.
HOLD HARMLESS
SCRIP-SAFE® uses its own patented latent image technology for which it holds U.S. Patent 5,171,040. In the unlikely event of litigation, SCRIP-SAFE® holds the institution harmless.
